The 3^rd annual C/JMTK Users Conference was held March 22 and 23 at the Heritage Conference Center in Chantilly, Virginia.  The Heritage Conference Center is a state-of-the-art facility with a 320 person auditorium, seven conference rooms, and two break out rooms – all of which are fully equipped with audio/video capability.  Over 200 users attended representing the:  Army, Air Force, Coast Guard, DISA, Navy and Marine Corp, as well as NGA, other government offices, and numerous government contractors.  Based on user feedback, the conference was extremely successful.  Attendance doubled from the May ’04 event and a second day was added for technical sessions.

The Day One Plenary sessions provided the users with insight into the current status of C/JMTK, the new capabilities of ArcGIS 9.2, and dynamic overviews of experiences and lessons learned from C/JMTK approved mission applications.  These presentations covered:

·        Desktop applications (C2PC and GALE)

·        Migration to web based services (DTSS, Joint Web Cop)

·        Integration with other DoD geospatial systems (DGINet)

Day Two of the conference provided users with an opportunity to attend a variety of technical sessions provided by C/JMTK and ESRI.  These sessions were divided into three tracks (Introductory, Best Practices, and Development) to encourage participation from a wide range of disciplines and experience. 

·        Introductory track targeted potential and
new C/JMTK users

·        Best Practices track provided insights into
developing solutions across ArcGIS Desktop,
ArcGIS Engine, ArcGIS Server, MOLE, and
Military Analyst

·        Development track focused on ArcObjects
development in Java and .Net, ArcIMS, and
designing for performance

 In addition, a special session was presented by MAK which highlighted the supplemental capability (not included with the toolkit option) for embedding modeling and simulation in the C/JMTK environment.  Concurrent with the technical sessions, demonstrations were available from AGI, C/JMTK, ESRI, and Leica Geosystems. 

The conference also provided opportunities for networking and side bar meetings.  Attendees interacted with NGA, MCG&I representatives, C/JMTK staff, and ESRI presenters.

The C/JMTK program strives to maintain an open environment for communicating and working with our user community.  Our goal is to keep the community apprised of new features and capabilities, lessons learned, and educational opportunities.  The Users Conference is a valuable instrument for communicating with our potential and established users and the C/JMTK program would like to thank our user community for their participation.
